An Exceptional Visit to a Royal Institution: Details of Dr. Khaled Al-Kathiri's Tour of Real Madrid As part of cultural and sporting tours and to learn about global best practices in managing major clubs, I visited the home of Real Madrid (the Royal Club) in the Spanish capital, Madrid. There, I explored the facilities of this prestigious club and discovered the secret to the institutional and sporting excellence of one of the world's biggest clubs. 📍 Highlights of the Visit Dr. Khaled Al-Kathiri's visit included a packed schedule of events and activities covering the administrative, sporting, and historical aspects of the club: 1. Tour of the Valdebebas Sports City The visit began with a tour of "Ciudad Real Madrid" (the club's sports city), where I learned about: Training Fields: The technical standards and technologies used in preparing the pitches for the first team and youth teams. Medical and Physical Facilities: The latest sports recovery and sports medicine equipment that ensures the players' health and readiness. The club's academy (La Cantera): I received a detailed explanation of the club's strategy for discovering and developing young talent to build the next generation. 2. Visit to the newly renovated Santiago Bernabéu Stadium The tour included a visit to the heart of Madrid, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, following its recent spectacular renovations. This included: viewing the stadium's advanced engineering and smart technologies (such as the retractable pitch system). Visiting the VIP box, the players' dressing rooms, and the tunnel leading to the pitch. 3. Tour of the club's historic museum (trophy room) I learned about the club's rich heritage through a visit to the official museum, which houses: Historical UEFA Champions League trophies and other international awards won by the club throughout its history. Digital and interactive exhibits documenting the careers of the legends who have graced the Royal Club. I took a collection of photos, which you can find here.
